"Another Place" is an album of piano music, with story lines weaved into the titles to create a larger narrative. The pieces were created at separate times, and all of them are live performances on Twitch performed on the Venter Steinway in the Dungeon Music Studio in Hamden CT USA.

Even though most of the works were created with the elements of chance- a dice throw to determine key, chords, or motives genetic info- they are assembled here purposefully to create a larger sonic collage of story line reaching out to the sky from our ocean.

Looking upward into the vastness of space created a humble awe we experience as a child first looking at huge things, and this is the sense I get with the created mythology and story line through titles.

I hope the listener enjoyed this journey, as it was meant to be a larger whole experience.

1) Birdfishes Look to the Sky

Influenced by Debussy, no doubt, and some jazz, this work is watery and airy. The essence of fish-joy in the water is the image floating through the improviser's mind. Pure improvisation for the chat in Twitch, audio extracted and mastered.


2) Perseus Lover Morning

This work was created from a dice-roll, and improvised based on that info. The Chords were B-flat minor, e minor, and A Major. The chords informed the title, which furthered the story.


3) Perseus Moves Control

This is also a dice-roll improvisation for chat live on Twitch, except that this one uses the rolls and genetic thematic material. The intervallic relationships were explored, and the notes/chords were B-flat minor, B major, and D Major. Although the chordal info was less strictly adhered to, the title also is informed by the dice-roll content, furthering this story.


4) Dice-Roll Rhapsody

Another Dice-Roll work, that became rather rhapsodic and had a Spanish/flamenco seed. Hinting of dance, it moves rhapsodically through the gestures.


5) Re-MIND-ng

A live composed work on Twitch, I first recorded a MIDI piano track, then slowed it down considerably, recorded a "real" piano track reaction improvisation to it, then added several more elements.

6) In The Distance (for LR)

In the Distance, I heard this melody. It came to me after my dear friend Leejay Rudenjak suddenly left us and went out to Another Place. This is for him, and I hope he likes it. It is the reason for this album, and the story. May he Rest In Peace, and enjoy the Giant B-flat from the Perseus Galaxy cluster. Love you, my friend.
