This work is not “serialist”, really, but it does use the 12 notes of the chromatic scale in a very specific way. Its a guided improvisatory work, designed for musicians who are comfortable with improvising on materials given.

It works with three or more instruments, and the instruments can be any type acoustic or electronic, in any transposition. I have included a Main “C Score”, and A, B-flat, G and F Scores. There are very specific instructions for the realization of each section indicated with a Rehearsal letter at the beginning of each line.

The title came from a simplistic number-game I played with using the creation date, then deciding on the “meanings”. The title is appropriate: it certainly is a “fantasy”, on a “when-query”. If you are sensing a “game” at the core of this piece, you would be correct. Part of the “game-play” is really the interactions of the performers, each performance will yield different, yet similar, results.

This edition is published in an 8.5x11 inch format so that one may easily enlarge the score to 11x17 inch paper, as well as easily make 8.5x11 inch copies. This is a rough recording available to accompany the score of this edition. Purchase of the score will include a download of this audio.
