about

Influenced by Stravinsky's Rite, this is a sample manipulation work made before the ease of advanced sampling and looping devices. Every loop, every sound was hand placed and manipulated. This is the first movement of three.

Using sounds recorded from gear in the studio, the audio creates this rich imaginary story, I just followed the sounds, and let them guide me, as I changed things, the work shifted.

credits

from Electronic Music Sampler vol.1, released August 1, 2016
SPOILER ALERT: Origin of sounds are from The Hartt School of Music's old computer music lab. Writing on the dry erase board, starting up a printer, turning on and off monitors, opening and closing CD and DAT machine trays, playing a controller's keys with no sound. etc.
